About hexplace
hexplace turns public data into comparable facts about every town, so people choosing where to travel, move or retire can see the trade-offs for themselves.
Open data only
Every number comes from a named public dataset whose licence allows commercial use.
Precision labelled
Each value says whether it is town-level, modelled or regional. Regional values never drive a verdict.
Honest about gaps
When reliable data doesn't exist for a place, the page says so and leaves the value empty.
Rules in the open
Scores and "who it suits" lists come from weights and rules published on the methodology page.
Using the data
Every value on the site is published with its source and precision label on the town pages, and each town page has a CSV and JSON download.
To put a town card, climate chart or ranking on your own site, use the embed builder. Every dataset and its licence is listed in the methodology.
Current data
Pages are rebuilt from each new data release. The date on a town page shows when its data was last updated.
